ravelt | RAVE 0004 [Video]

[When the camera clicks on, it first pans over to what looks like a desolate wasteland. There are bodies and body parts strewn everywhere, craters marring the landscape, and the only thing breaking the erie silence was a strong breeze occasionally cutting across the land.

Suddenly, the camera shifts, giving an up close and personal look of someone's purple iris. It then pans back, revealing Haru making a skeptical face at the journal, as he tries to get it to work. He uses it so infrequently for making posts he still barely has an idea of how to use it properly. Thankfully, he takes notice that the thing seems to be working.]

Ah, cool! It's working! [He flashes a big grin at the camera as he puts the journal down on the ground.

He pauses for a moment, contemplating what exactly he's going to say now that he's got the chance to say it. It's really something he should have considered BEFORE turning on the journal, but, ah well. Spur of the moment ideas and all that. Finally, he opts to speak up.]

Hey, some of you guys out there use the Battle Dome pretty regularly, right? I was wonderin' if I could borrow some of your training simulations? I had one that was workin' out pretty well for me there for a while, I guess it's gettin' to be too easy for me now. That's probably a sign I need somethin' different now, right? [Another big, happy grin.] So you got any cool ideas?

[He ends the recording there, and sets up a few (poorly done) filters.]

Hey Shuda, I was wondering if you could give me some help with my training, too.

Hey, Mr. Vegeta! I got the hang of that thing!

Hey Elie, umm...

[he cuts off his sentence early on that last one.]

[That's just like Shuda. Man, he remembers when you used to be a cocky bastard, Shuda. Still, he knows actions speak way louder than words, and so he pulls Ravelt off his back and charges at Shuda, making a sweeping swing.]

[Too slow, Haru. It's a piece of cake for Shuda to anticipate that movement and dodge it exactly the same way he did the very first time the two of them fought: by doing a flip right over Haru's head to land behind him, twisting around midair so that he's facing the boy's back when he comes down.

He's not pulling any punches, that much is for certain.]

[Haru switches over to Silfarion now. The moment Shuda lands, Haru uses his speed to loop around so he's now behind Shuda.]

[That's a clever move, and under normal circumstances it would be worthy of praise from Shuda. However, given that his intent in this particular sparring match is to teach Haru standard swordsmanship rather than having him rely on Ravelt, he's not all that impressed.

He whirls around again and strikes out at Haru with his own blade, expecting Haru to use Silfarion's speed to dodge it.]

[Instead of doing what Shuda expects, i.e. Haru dodging using Silfarion, he actually instead opts to block the blade with the side of one of Blue Crimson's swords, and launching a counterattack with the other sword.]

[That is definitely unexpected, yet it also pleases Shuda a great deal. Maybe Haru isn't quite as hard-headed as he'd thought...

Fortunately for Shuda, he can just block that counterattack with his metal arm, taking a brief moment to size up the situation before springing back and darting towards Haru with the intent of dodging aside at the last minute and striking from the side.]

[Shuda's just as tricky in battle as Haru remembers. Haru could use Silfarion to quickly dodge him, or Mel Force to blow Shuda away, or Million Suns to blind him, but...

He's quickly realizing that this is a battle of swordsmanship, and Shuda's taking that sword part very seriously. So instead, he switches to Gravity Core, letting the sword's immense girth plant the blade firmly into the ground, and at the moment Shuda's about to strike...

Haru propels himself into the air by vaulting up off the ground using the sword having been planted into the ground. The moment he's in the air, he switches to Ravelt, and lands behind Shuda, intent on dealing a clean strike.]

[Shuda is hardly a slow fighter by any means. His reaction time is swift, but not swift enough to realize what Haru is planning and then alter his own actions to respond to it.

He's partway into whirling around to face Haru head-on when the blow connects, knocking him forward a few steps and cutting a shallow slash into his back. Although it stings, it's not a serious injury, and he'll be able to heal it before he leaves the Battle Dome anyway.

When he turns his head to Haru once he regains his footing, there's a smile on his face.]

You're getting better.

[Haru stands up straight, relaxing his guard--and leaving himself wide open, if Shuda dared take the opportunity.]

I toldja I wasn't slacking on his training.

[And take the opportunity Shuda will, striking out with a lightning-fast slash aimed at Haru's shoulder. Yeah, Haru is still as predictable as ever when it comes right down to it.]

[Whoa! Haru manages to dodge out of the way at the last, but not before getting nicked pretty badly by the slash. He reels backward, clutching.]

Couldn't you wait until we were done talkin'?!

Do you really think an enemy would wait for you to finish a conversation?

[Haru pls. You're not that naive.]

They always did before.

[And he says that completely seriously. Come on, Shuda, you're a culprit in this too. Just think back to the days when you were enemies.]

Then that makes them just as stupid.

[WE DON'T THINK ABOUT THOSE DAYS, HARU.

But Shuda will give Haru a break this time, lowering his own sword slightly as a signal that he isn't going to attack again for the time being.]

But that's the best way to get to know who I'm dealing with. [You'd understand if you were actually present for any of his big battles, Shuda.]

And the best way to get killed if you aren't careful.

[Not that he really has much room to talk given how much conversation went on during his fight with Deep Snow...]

I'm always careful. [He hasn't died yet, right?]

[Just gonna bonk Haru on the head with the flat of his sword here.]

Ow! What was that for?! [fucking rude Shuda.]

[Damn right.]

For not being careful. Improvement means nothing if you still make basic mistakes.

[He just sulks now.]

Okay, okay... Fine.

But you have improved. You're finally thinking before striking, which is more than I could say for you earlier.

[Praise from Shuda! It's all almost worth it.]

Thanks! But I'm far from done in showin' you what I can do!

[Now Shuda can't help but smirk, because it's been far too long since he last had a satisfying spar against a real opponent.]

Then don't just talk about it-- show me.

Right! Then here's something new I've been learning!

[Rather than switching to a different form of the Ten Commandments, or even just charging at Shuda with the form he has now, he instead stays right where he is and tenses up his free arm, energy flowing into it and gather into a visible form.]
